About this app

AuroraReach app is an aurora tracking, forecasting and alerting app that gives local aurora visibility scores for cities around the world. We take weather conditions like cloud cover, visibility, time of day etc. along with aurora score to generate a score that can help you find the aurora visibility times for a gives city. Along with aurora, weather conditions are also predicted for up to 4 days.

We track ~24K cities around the world for aurora activity and weather conditions. It is easy to get started by subscribing to alerts for multiple cities and get alerted on the app for free. Realtime aurora map shows the aurora activity on the map and you can interact with the map to select the cities we are tracking from map and having activity at that time. Aurora Travel destination searching is easier with this and with our city search page you can search by city or country for viewing the city aurora forecast report and subscribe to cities for alerts. You can favorite the cities for quick accesses in the future even if you are not registered with an account.

As we track city specific aurora scores, we cover cities under the northern lights (aurora borealis), southern lights (aurora australis) and even cities where aurora hasn't occurred till date.

Users can explore and add their own checkins of Auroras they have seen, we also alert if we get a checkin in your city to share the experience but also make sure even if we don't alert you get notified by your community of hunters.

Enjoy hunting auroras with AuroraReach and find your next aurora destination with this app.

I like the idea of this app, I just wish there was a way with which to configure the threshold for notification. I live in a fairly low latitude, high light pollution, area. As a result, only G3, or higher, level storms are applicable to me, but I see no way to alter the threshold. So, instead of getting excited when I see a notification from this app, it ends up training me to ignore them, since the vast majority are G1 and G2.

Hi, thanks so much for the feedback. You make a very good point on being able to select a level of GStorm threshold, definitely something we will have a look at on our side.

To developer: I don't need to add a new city, I was just adding a check in from last night's aurora in my area, but it put the current city I'm in, which is somewhat close, just ~40mins away. ETA: immediately after I wrote my last review, the app refreshed and finally took me to the search screen. Now my issue is that I can't seem to find a way to edit my check in. I did a manual location, but it still put my current city, which seems counterintuitive.

Thanks for clarifying, the logic is to take the city page you are in as the city of checkin. Manual location is to share your exact location in the city rather than city centre coordinates by default. If this was not the intended behaviour you received then please send us more details to info@aurorareach.com and we are happy to check.

The app notified me and I actually caught a glimpse of the northern lights! It would be nice if I could add photos from the photo page. Navigating back to my town to check in was not so intuitive.
